Registration of fertilizers, soil amendments, and related agricultural products in Ecuador according to type and subtype classification:

LEGAL FRAMEWORK

In Ecuador, the applicable regulation for Fertilizer Products, Soil Amendments, and Related items is Resolution No. 218; Seventh Edition.

Products falling within the scope of this regulation are eligible for registration.

1. SUBTYPE OF FERTILIZERS

a. Inorganic Fertilizer (chemical or mineral origin).

1. Inorganic Fertilizer.

2. Inorganic Fertilizer with Organic Matter (OM) Content.

b. Organic Origin Fertilizer.

2. SUBTYPE OF SOIL AMENDMENTS

a. Inorganic Soil Amendments.

b. Organic Soil Amendments (includes Humic Substances).

3. SUBTYPES OF RELATED PRODUCTS FOR AGRICULTURAL USE

a. Biostimulants (Bioles may be considered within this category).

b. Natural and/or chemical growth regulators.

c. Natural and/or chemical growth regulators and their mixtures with fertilizers: When a product is enriched with these substances, it can be registered under this category, even if it has significant nutritional contributions.

d. Elicitors

e. Biological inoculants (phosphorus-solubilizing microorganisms, growth regulator activators, organic matter decomposers, symbiotic and nonsymbiotic nitrogen-fixing bacteria, etc., and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.)

f. Hydrating agents

g. Ripening Agents

h. Detergents (neutral, ionic, non-ionic)

i. Foliage Cleaners

j. Antifoaming and Foaming Agents

k. Stressors

Registration of Agricultural Adjuvants in Ecuador

Any adhesive, deposit-forming, emulsifiable, diluent, synergistic, or wetting substance intended to facilitate the application and action of a formulated product, which can be further categorized as:

  • Surfactants or wetting agents
  • Adherents
  • Penetrants
  • Anti-drift
  • Emulsifiers or compatibility agents
